Beadwork as Ceremony: Activating Our Resilience, Restoration, and Resistance
In this workshop beading will be used as an Indigenous method to activate our people’s well-being and help us heal from historical and ongoing injustices. Each participant will be gifted a bead kit and pattern that we will bead collectively to act out Indigenous knowledge, connect to our ancestors, and establish visibility for Indigenous community-oriented determination. While we bead, we will dialogue about beading circles as one community strategy to take care of ourselves and discuss beaded artwork as representations of the life force within Indigenous peoples. No prior experience with beading is necessary to participate.
