Building staff capability in cultural responsiveness – a capability development project.
A reflective presentation of a capability development project for staff at a tertiary education institute. It aims to share experiences of a collaborative approach to building staff capability to improve outcomes for Maori learners. It will outline the process taken to meet government and institute strategic goals, the activity developed to support this, and, the evaluation pilot. Recommendations for future activities and the tools developed to give on-going support to staff will be shared. The focus is the evaluation pilot created to assess staff achievement of competencies within a Maori Achievement framework, and assess impact on Maori learners.
