E Hina e! E Hine e! Exploring Akua/Atua Ancestral Ties Across Ka Moananuiākea/Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa
Exploring the use of moʻolelo/kōrero, mele/waiata and visual art, E Hina e! E Hine e! explores the profound ancestral ties between Kānaka Maoli and Māori. The presentation and workshop honors nā akua/atua wāhine embodied in ʻāina/whenua/moana/wai and the importance of mana wāhine from time immemorial. In featuring moʻolelo/kōrero of wāhine, that through colonization were ellipsed from historical texts and resources, we seek to restore gender complementarity and balance. The workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to express their own experience of connecting with nā akua/atua through the use of moʻolelo/korero, mele/waiata, and visual art.
