He Kokonga Ngākau: Research that examines the corners of our hearts

This presentation will describe and explain four research projects that are currently being conducted through an independent Māori research institute, involving whānau (extended family) researchers, customary fishing experts, hapū (sub-tribe) communities and Māori generally. These projects build on some of the findings of He Kokonga Whare, a research programme that focused on Māori intergenerational trauma and healing. The focus of this new suite of research projects is whānau, hapū, iwi (tribal) and Māori well-being, and reimagining research approaches that align with our own aspirations and priorities.
