Hulahula and Science: Indigenous STEM Practice and Education

Science is not separate from our culture and our identity; science is a strength of our indigenous culture! This workshop will explore an innovative approach to STEM education by utilizing culturally relevant dance expressions to showcase the science encoded in our moʻolelo, mele and oli as a means to increase our communities enthusiasm of, and engagement with science. This style aligns with traditional modes of learning, acknowledges indigenous epistemology, integrates multiple knowledge structures, and shares educational content in a fun accessible manner. This workshop will actively engage participants in creating their own dances. Come ready to hulahula! (youtube #BOSSdancefriends)
