Kahurangi- He kahukura no Takimoana. Romiromi and tūpāpaku.

This lecture will explore how the holistic Māori practice of romiromi be used to traditionally prepare tūpāpaku and further used as a method to assist in the grieving process. Focusing predominantly on the grieving family, te whānau pani, romiromi utilises a natural approach, allowing the grieving family to focus on the movement and release of mamae, held deep within the physical body. Based on an ethnographic case study, this project reclaims traditional Māori knowledge, whilst empowering Māori traditional Arts and Identity.
