Kūkulu: A Tribute to the Pillars of Mauna a Wākea Strategies Exploring Land Repossession in Hawaiʻi


Kūkulu, a traveling art exhibition was created to bring Mauna Kea to the masses, to be the connection of the mauna to the community, to inspire the keiki to kupuna to stand for the sacred, for the water, for the people.

Through the teaching of two ʻOli Kūkulu, this presentation will highlight the implementation of ʻIke in the installation of the exhibit and will showcase how Kūkulu educates and inspires, sets the protocol of how to stand for a sacred place and explores the question of how an exhibit directly impacts land repossession in Hawaiʻi.
