The Hospital Transfers Project: Statistics, Narratives and Influence
The panel will discuss the findings and learning’s from the Indigenous-led project – Hospital Transfers – Whānau Involvement in the Healing Equation. The team will present relevant results, learning’s and identify areas of influence that could be relevant and translated to other research projects and teams. Three inter-related phases (description, engagement and uptake) were utilised that included; statistical analysis, environmental scan and whānau and clinician interviews. Through these phases, we gained a comprehensive understanding of patterns of hospital transfers, system-based resources and experiences (whānau and clinicians) all of which play a critical part in Māori whānau involvement in the health care equation.
