The University of Newcastle and University of New England Miroma Bunbilla Pre Entry to Medicine Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People: The first 5 years.


The University of Newcastle for many years has prioritised the recruitment and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into their medical program.

The graduation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into the health workforce is one of way of improving access to health services and the health of Indigenous people.

In 2012 the Miroma Bunbilla Pre Entry to Medicine Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people was established. This presentation will discuss the Miroma Bunbilla Pre Entry to Medicine program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the initial five years.
