Transforming Teaching & Learning With Hawaiian Culture-based Science Readers

Pāhana ʻĀina Lupalupa is a series of Hawaiian culture-based leveled science readers, written in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi and then translated into English. A need was identified by educators across diverse educational contexts for 21st-century science resources that elevate ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi and aloha ʻāina for preschool and elementary learners. Educators from four mokupuni developed 40 books that support Hawaiian culture-based instruction in science, literacy and social studies. Join this workshop to discover how these innovative resources can transform teaching and learning through ʻike Hawaiʻi and aloha ʻāina.
