Weaving our stories together; connections spanning time and space.

My PhD research focuses on the belonging and identity of Ngāi Tahu women who have been in the foster system. This workshop will take my methodological elements of mana wahine (women’s knowledge) and storytelling connections to whakapapa: land, genealogy, and our histories to weave together our stories using storytelling and raranga harakeke/ traditional flax weaving. The focus will be on how we preference tell our stories to uplift our people and share them with each other. This will be a hands on workshop involving sharing and weaving. No knowledge of weaving is required.
